HTML <i> tag

All major browsers support the <i> tag.
Tag definitions and instructions
<I> different parts of the definition and the rest of the text, and this part of the text is rendered as italic text.
<I> tag is used to represent scientific terms, other languages idioms, ideas, the spacecraft's name, etc.
In the absence of other appropriate semantic elements can be used, use the <i> element. Other semantic elements are as follows:
- <EM> (emphasized text)
- <strong> (important text)
- <Mark> (text marked / highlighted)
- <auf cite> (work title)
- <DFN> (a definition item)
Differences between HTML 4.01 and HTML5
In HTML 4.01, <i> italic tag rendered text. However, there is no need to do so in HTML5, you can use style sheets to format the <i> element in the text.
